Getting in Sync with Your Learner’s Processing Style

Happy Sunday!

As promised, here is the next visual from my 4-part Cognitive Rigidity …or Processing Time Needed? blog post series. Specifically, this visual captures the information shared in Part 3. As you get in sync with your learner’s unique processing style, you will be in a much better place to give them the time that they need to be successful.

Here is what that process looks like:

When the process unfolds in this way, it is graceful, it is a dance, and it communicates mutual respect. And, the positive forward momentum present on the other side of Step 5 (PAUSE & WAIT) is connecting and empowering, to everyone.

Here are links to all 4 parts of this series if you need them:

Part 1: Cognitive Rigidity … or Processing Time Needed?

Part 2: What Does Thinking Look Like?

Part 3: Information Nuggets

Part 4: Future it Out

And, visuals for Part 1 and Part 2 are here!

In other news…

I wanted to let you know the pace of my posts needs to slow down for a bit!

I’ll get the visual for Part 4 to you as soon as I can, but then I have some other projects that I will be focusing on this summer and beyond.

I have an exciting opportunity to help get some research going on the strategies of declarative language + co-regulation, and I have been wanting to get started on my next book for while now.

My plan is to write a third handbook that talks about how we can use the tools of declarative language, co-regulation, and a competent-roles-mindset together, with learners of all ages — including tweens, teens and adults! But, it is so hard to find time to buckle down and do it! I think not writing a Sunday post every week will help me.

I’ll see you back here when I can, and until then, keep doing what you are doing and reach out to me anytime.

Continuing Education Opportunity

I’ll be doing a webinar with AEP Connections on June 27th! Details are here.
